I took the missus (who'd never been to see Carter before) to their gig at Birmingham Academy last week and she said she'd never been to a gig like it before for its energy (everyone's 15 years older too) and performance. Was probably better than when they were around 1st time and thats saying something.

I went through a period of thinking their music was poor and now I hate myself for it - they sound as good now as they ever did. Probably better with all the crap about now.

So say it loud and say it proud - I'M A CARTER FAN!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-49733164738618478692008-09-06T06:06:00.000+10:002008-09-06T06:06:00.000+10:00Hey Bobbysix, couldn't agree more. I'm sure I've joined this discussion a year or so late but at least I've got the 22nd November gig to look forward.

p.s, I might be a bit sad, but most of my best friends are hardcore Carter fans and we are now all of an age where we are starting to get hitched so I have danced like a loon at numerous weddings to Carter tunes.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12220824248913299474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-76781944456326160812008-05-14T23:50:00.000+10:002008-05-14T23:50:00.000+10:00Incidentally, for anyone reading this article afte...Incidentally, for anyone reading this article after 2007, Carter have lined up two more gigs following their 'farewell' last year. Even though I won't be there this time (I live in Autralia) I don't begrudge them another hoorah.Bobby Sixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11927245896068802695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-27931430829630720772008-05-01T08:36:00.000+10:002008-05-01T08:36:00.000+10:00Good article. I first saw them in Oban Corran Halls on the west coast of Scotland when I was 15 and it has only been matched by the Barrowlands gig in my top concerts.

I got a cycling cap but never once wore it. Got into them...I loved Carter when i was at school! Got into them when "Sheriff Fatman" was re-released and made the charts, and started buying all their other stuff. Got to admit i forgot about them around the time of Worry Bomb, as i got older and my musical tastes were widening, but recently i downloaded a couple of albums and some singles from iTunes, and been re-discovering their cracking songs (my vinyl is long gone!), shame they aren't playing more gigs as i can't get to those 2, would be nice if they played Notts or somewhere near there (did see them live at birmingham NEC supporting Madness, circa Post Historic Monsters), so here's hoping!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-62985879097954723172007-11-12T07:27:00.000+11:002007-11-12T07:27:00.000+11:00Got into USM about 6 months before Worry Bomb, aft...Got into USM about 6 months before Worry Bomb, after hearing a track on a compo a mate did... By then people had stopped wearing the T-shirts at school, and like another writer here, I also lived in the middle of nowhere so Brixton was my first, proper Carter gig!! It was great - a slightly emotional eperioence in some ways being the first but most likely last - yet I cannot begin to imagine how it must have been back in the early to mid 90's, especially things like Glastonbury when they were voted best set. I still remember their tracks being occaisionally played in 'mainstream' clubs whilst I was at college in '96, which seems unbelivable now. Ah, memories! You win some and you lose some eh?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-31958700939557525102007-10-28T20:53:00.000+11:002007-10-28T20:53:00.000+11:00Cracking article - seeing Carter burst out of a mo...Cracking article - seeing Carter burst out of a mock up of Tower Bridge at Brixton in 1992 must still rate as one of my favourite gig moments ever. I still remember my brother analysing Sheriff Fatman for his English GCSE. Can't be too many schoolkids that did that.

Coming over from Stockholm for the gig this Friday so the albums will be on repeat play all week.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06657859725158178642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-1715778339417797232007-10-27T10:06:00.000+10:002007-10-27T10:06:00.000+10:00The article was spot on..........Carter where the ...The article was spot on..........Carter where the band that got me into indie/punk in some dismal suburb in some dismal point in the early nineties. I don't know why really but they just are.

I'll be seeing them up in Glasgow next weekend and at the start of November I'll be heading down to Brixton. It's 10 years since they split and the chance of going to not one but two Carter gigs again after all this time is a complete no brainer. I was the butt of most jokes in college for my Carter obsession. I think the cycling cap was the final insult especially when i didn't even own a bike.

I do agree that they do still sound as fresh as ever, though my other half hates them 'they sound like the streets - how come you like these but hate the streets?'. But that's still not stopped me from listening to their albums now.

My only upset comes from the fact that i can't afford to get to London or Glasgow in November. Still there's the remastered songs on the new best of.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36053847.post-59497864091727355092007-09-24T02:54:00.000+10:002007-09-24T02:54:00.000+10:00This is very intersting.
