Smirnoff Experience Berlin

On 23rd April the user-generated series of original nightlife events known as Smirnoff Experience stopped off in Berlin. Nearly 3,000 people had submitted their ideas for the event, with 10,000 people from around the world voting online to decide on the line-up and venue. Volcanic ash may have put paid to my hopes of attending, but my spies in Germany tell me that, despite the disruption caused by what happened in Iceland the previous week, it was still a great success.

The show was headlined by electro duo Simian Mobile Disco (above) and featured appearances from New Young Pony Club (whose new album is really good, incidentally) Amiga-loving Londoner Boy 8 Bit and Danish indie/punk/dance-rockers WhoMadeWho.

Before Berlin, Smirnoff Experience already stopped off in Moscow, Shanghai, Paris and New York and now continues its journey around the world to land in South Africa on 15th May 2010 with headliner Tiƫsto.
