Weezer offered $10m to split up!

You know what it's like. You wait a couple of years for your band to come up with a new long-player. In the build up to its release, they wax lyrical about how it is, "the best thing we've done since *insert name of seminal debut/second album here," and how they are really proud of it.

Excitedly, you go to the shop on the day it comes out, hand over your cash and hurry home to put it on the stereo, whereupon your ears are greeted by a horribly staid affair that, for a few days, you convince yourself you like before frustratedly going back to listen to their old stuff instead.

Well, Weezer fans, quite justifiably, have had enough of this all-too-regular debacle, and so are starting a campaign to raise a cool $10m to try and persuade the band to split up for good. To read the full story behind this brilliant idea, head over to The Guardian.
